13th Street opened a new production, hospitality and retail facility in the summer of 2009 on 4th Avenue in St. Catharines. Current production is 20,000 plus cases total. In 2016 a new expanded tasting bar was built and additional production and warehouse facilities were added.Doug & Karen Whitty and John & June Mann are the owners, purchasing the winery in 2008

They were awarded Platinum at the 2022 National wine awards for Canada their 2020 Reserve Syrah

One of Canada's largest wine companies. Their flagship winery Peller Estates lies in the heart the Niagara wine region. They have won countless awards over the years and once again in 2021 they took home numerous awards. Andrew Peller Signature Series Riesling Icewine and Andrew Peller Signature Series Riesling among the big winners at Decanters.

In March 1927, twenty-four-year-old Andrew Peller sailed into Halifax with five dollars in his pocket. While he had plenty of time to think about his future during the long journey from Hungary aboard the R.M.S. Ausonia, finding his definitive calling in a land of such great opportunity would take time. It wasn’t until years later, when he planted his first vineyards in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, that his ultimate dream would take root: he would create a culture across the country where Canadians, much like Europeans, would appreciate and share quality wines with family and friends.

In 1989, Andrew’s grandson, John, became the third generation to continue the family’s legacy of creating truly world-class wines and winery experiences for Canadians to enjoy with family and friends.

Avondale Sky winery has new owners the Coutinho family. Louis his wife Avila their daughter Jamie and two sons Karl and Sean. They have made some stunning changes at the winery.

They receive the award for excellence in Nova Scotia wines from the Lt. Governor.

The winemaker is Ben Swetnam, graduated from the Niagara College Winery and Viticulture Program. He’d practiced his craft in other Nova Scotia wineries and in Germany before moving to Avondale Sky.

All reviews on the winery are good. 


 

Byland Estates

Byland Estate Winery is a 13-acre vineyard owned by Jackson Bai since 2015. Acquired from Italian veteran, Frank Di Paola, whom has over 3 decades of grape growing experience, this vineyard has provided high quality grapes for Magnotta Winery (third largest Ontarian winery) for 25 years. The vineyard always grows high-quality wine grapes, with a spiritual inheritance of strict management, standard operation and the pursuit for perfection.

They have quite the list of awards won in the last few Year They are a up and coming winery to watch for!

Cave Spring Cellars

Len Pennachetti, co-founder and CEO of Cave Spring Vineyard, was recently appointed to the Order of Canada. Len was recognized with this great honour for his key role in developing the Ontario wine industry and for fostering tourism in the Niagara region.

Respected as one of the foremost producers of Riesling in North America. You have to keep your eyes on Cave Spring.

One of the more noted names in the Canadian wine industry with wineries in both Ontario and British Columbia. The Ontario vineyards are located in the Niagara-on-the-Lake region. Every bottle of Jackson-Triggs wines bears the signature of the proprietors Alan Jackson and Donald Triggs. They believe that wine making is a delicate balancing act between art, science and nature requiring equal parts knowledge and intuition.

Since Jackson-Triggs Vintners' inception in 1993, both its Okanagan and Niagara wines have been honoured with many prestigious and notable awards. The list soars above most Canadian wineries with over 675 awards won to date - including more than 450 and 225 in International and Canadian competitions respectively

Shiraz Mottiar, a graduate of Brock University’s Enology program has been Malivoire winemaker since 2005 

Martin Malivoire for more than 20 years now, his winery on the Beamsville Bench has become a base for innovation, creativity and sustainability – with an aim to produce wines that are uniquely and proudly Canadian. Wines that could only be grown here, in Niagara.  Wines that don’t try to be from any place else. You could call  them wines that exude a sense of "Somewhereness."

Planters Ridge Winery opened in 2013 after two successful harvests.  The name Planters Ridge was selected to reflect the history of the land the winery is situated on.  The land is part of the original New England Planters Land Grant from 1760, offered by the Lieutenant Governor after the Acadian expulsion.  In 2010, owners John McLarty and Lisa Law purchased the property from a seventh generation Woodworth family, who were original New England Planters. The Stratus vineyard is a mature fifty-three acre estate moderated by the effects of two bodies of water: the Niagara River and Lake Ontario. Benefiting from a unique mesoclimate, the vineyard ranks among the warmest sites in Niagara Their vineyard is planted partially with Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The vineyard's main varieties will be clones of Bordeaux and Rhone

Canada's Stratus Vineyards is the world's first winery to be given the coveted LEED green certification. To qualify for the LEED, Stratus set up features and practices such as composting all plant waste materials, herbicide-free vineyards, energy-efficient electrical and plumbing systems, and toxin-free waste-management systems. Stratus also uses a hybrid, gas-electric vehicle for winery deliveries. The winery was also designed for making wine using the gravity-flow method.

One of the clichés of winemaking is that “wine is made in the vineyard.” For Stratus winemaker J-L Groux, this is gospel. Groux comes from the Loire Valley region of France, where wine is deeply ingrained in the culture. He learned winemaking while working in Burgundy and Bordeaux

 


Thirty Bench Winery

Located on the Niagara Peninsula near Thirty Mile Creek this winery began as a partnership in the late 1970's to grow grapes. In 1980 it expanded to 39 acres. Under the direction of Tom Muckle and Deborah Paskas their first wine (an icewine) was produced in 1992.

Today the winery is owned by Andrew Peller Limited and focus on Riesling . They won Best Small Winery of the Year at WineAlign's National Wine Awards of Canada 2015! Emma Garner was winemaker of the year 2015.

Two Sisters Vineyards

The winery is owned by two sisters Melissa Marotta-Paolicelli and Angela Marotta. The property has a total of 76 acres and all the reds are estate grown.  They are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot
The winery has done well in International wine competitions.

At The 2019 Spirit of Niagara Awards, presented by the Niagara on the Lake Chamber of Commerce, they were awarded Company of the Year! 

Wine reviewers have been given their wines scores of 94 and 93. We see no reason that their success will not continue in 2023.

Vieni Estate Winery

Vieni  means come or welcome in Italian. Vieni Wines opened in 2013 with 175 acres; offering a range of whites, reds Icewines, and Charmat Method sparkling wines. Winemaker Mauro Salvador will also produce Grappa and spirits distilled from local fruits.

The winery was the second most awarded Ontario winery at the National wine awards.

Their Sparkling wines won double Gold at the New York World Awards

 Master winemaker Mauro Salvador is the owner.

Consistent quality!

Located in the far south close to the US border. Owner Jean Joly trained as a marathon runner, which accounts for the name. Jean's wife Line is co-owner of the picturesque winery. They produce Vin de Glace Icewine.

The 7,000 vine plants, aged between 15 and 20 years spread over an area of ​​two hectares, allow the vineyard to produce three white wines each year, two reds, a rosé, an ice wine and a late-harvest wine It produces white wines, red ice wine and late harvest. The majority of plants are French hybrids like Seyval Blanc, Cayuga, Vidal and Geisenheim. The red varieties DeChaunac Maréchal Foch and are very well adapted to the Cool climate.

Since 1994, the Vignoble du Marathonien has been awarded more than 100 medals, including more than fifty Gold, Grand Gold and first prizes in various competitions around the globe.

Banjo is a farm based cidery and orchard located in the picturesque hills of Uxbridge . Uxbridge is centred between Lake Simcoe and Lake Ontario. The cidery is owned by Tony Brown and Patty Ewaschuk. The historic farm has buildings dating back to the 1850's.

We are passionate about reviving the lost art of traditional cider-making, which all but disappeared during Canada’s prohibition years when true cider apple trees were cut down. Our handcrafted cider is made slowly in small batches with 100% Ontario apples.

One of the largest producers of pure Canadian honey in Ontario. They have over  3,000 colonies of honey bees. Munro became the first Meadery in Ontario.

It all started with a promise. In 1982, on their honeymoon to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Eugene had promised Renata that one day they would open a winery together. As the story goes, she smiled and laughed, and 18 years later, they purchased a soon-to-be-vineyard property on the Beamsville Bench to begin their juice-filled project.

Eugene comes from a lifelong tradition of beekeeping (learned from his father) and a career in IT and Technology. Combining these two technically skilled areas, he is one of the key driving and innovative forces behind RosewoodRosewood is Niagara 's first meadery and produces 3 styles of mead. Eugene is a lifelong beekeeper who produces the honey used in mead making. The Roman family have been beekeepers for 70 years. Eugene is a master beekeeper having maintain his own hives since he was 5

The Thornbury Craft Co. Cider & Brew House building was originally a wooden apple storage building but was rebuilt with fire-proof concrete after it burnt down in the 1920s.
