Festina Lente

Live at the Hive

The true Gem of the Fraser Valley is the Meadery know as Festina Lente Estate Winery owned and operated by Bill &Teresa Townsley. Festina Lente is a beautifully paradoxical Latin phrase meaning “make haste slowly.” It’s a call to balance speed with thoughtfulness—urging us to act swiftly, but with care and deliberation.

As it was the Labour Day weekend it was the last weekend for live music ( Live at the Hive) for the season. Barbara and I along along with friend Ken and Jane agreed he had to be there.

We arrived early just before noon in order to enjoy the the scrumptious flat breads from Traveling Tea Party food Truck. Debbie Ross and her husband can be found at the meadery most weekends.

Our host today as the the owner herself Teresa. She surprised with a flight of 4 amazing wines. We stared with a dry ( crisp) Saturnalia, a Cranberry Melomel. Light refreshing and soft. This one will be enjoyed with our thanksgiving Turkey

Next came a new twist on their famous Bacchus mead the Bacchus Roseus. A rose style mead with minerality and floral notes. A excellent wine.

The third selection was Romulus "a Semi sweet fig with a vanilla warmth that comes through at the surprising finish. How does mead maker Bill Townsley continually creates these amazing meads!

As you can see the forth selection is unnamed, A very special creation. In fact it has not even been released from Bill's lab. I suggest you drop by the winery late in September and ask about it.

Preforming today were The Sciatikats offering a wide range of easy listing songs we all remember. Sadly Live at the Hive has come to a close for the season. They will be back next spring. The meadery will remain open all year..
