2018

Vineland Estate Winery

Welcome to The Best Wineries to Visit in 2017. There are so many outstanding wineries in Canada, from the larger big company wineries to the small one man show. Our selections are listed in no particular order. We have visited many in British Columbia and the Niagara Peninsula, we review them based upon, visits, research the word of our friends and other wine lovers.

British Columbia

Culmina Estate Winery

4790 Wild Rose Street
Oliver, BC
V0H 1T0

This new Okanagan winery has it all when it comes to producing great wines and operating a winery. This is a Triggs family winery, headed by Donald Triggs of Jackson and Triggs fame. Donald was also former CEO of Vincor International Ltd.

During our visit I was so impressed it is impossible not to once again include them on the Best Wineries to Visit list.

The location provides a wonderful view of the Okanagan Valley. The facilities are state of the art.

Wine tastings by appointment only and well worth the effort.

Sunnybre Vineyards and Winery

3849 Sunnybrae Canoe Point Rd
Tappen, B.C. V0E2X0

It s a family winery and represents the hundred of small unique family wineries across Canada

Working away from home and family most of his life, Barry Turner spoke often of establishing a home based business that would provide employment for his family. It seems none of his three lovely daughters were interested in careers in road building! So in 2005 Barry and his wife Nancy their daughters, husbands and grandchildren began planting their seven and a half acre lakeside property in five varieties of cool climate grapes.

The craftsman style winery building built in 2010, showcases vintage artifacts and photos of Barry's family; farmers in the Sunnybrae area for five generations

The tasting room offers a stunning view of the lake and Mount Ida.  The wines are really good too!

Tinhorn Creek sources fruit exclusively from its own vineyards: 150 acres of prime land on two very distinct benches. The 100-acre Diamondback Vineyard on the Black Sage Bench is planted with a mix of red and white varieties, primarily Pinot Gris, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The 50-acre Tinhorn Creek Vineyard on the Golden Mile Bench is also planted with a mix of red and white grapes, featuring Gewürztraminer.
