A small winery operating in the The Town of Brome Lake in southern Quebec, Canada. Brome Lake is composed of seven villages. The elegant Victorian village of Knowlton is famous for its Loyalist roots and outstanding built heritage. With 7 hectares of vineyards and an annual production limited to 2,000 cases of wine, Sugar Hill is a true micro-winery.

Sugar Hill is dedicated to the study of the unique terroir and climate of Lac-Brome. This northern border pushes the winemaking of cold climates to its limit and turns into an opportunity for courageous and daring viticulture. With 7 hectares of vines and an annual production limited to 2,000 cases of wine, Sugar Hill is a real micro-wine estate.

In 2006, the owners, Yvan Saint-Hilaire and Alicia Pelechacz, decided to bring their dream of owning a vineyard to life. In 2018, the estate began its transition to organic certification.

At Sugar Hill, quality is paramount.

"We believe that a long and attentive aging of our wines is necessary for a true expression of the Brome Lake terroir. Critics have long been negative about hybrid varietals, saying they could never reach the heights of traditional vines (vitis vinifiera). We are convinced of the opposite: we must try the adventure. Hybrid grape varieties can produce exceptional wines worthy of aging in the most beautiful cellars. True to our perfectionist spirit, we have invested a lot of time and effort into understanding the intricacies of each grape variety. In addition, at Sugar Hill, we believe in the continuous study of our terroir and the use of state-of-the-art winemaking practices in order to offer you wines with character. We have been proudly organic since 2021."

At Sugar Hill, quality is paramount.

Tts seven hectares, the vineyard produces wines from several grape varieties; Chardonnay, Frontenac Blanc, Saint Pépin, Vidal, Seyval, Marquette, Frontenac Noir, Cabernet Franc, Petite-Perle, Pinot Noir, Radisson and most recently Nebbiolo. The origin of the name, Sugar Hill, comes from the century-old barn that is found on the estate, Sugar Hill Farms, as well as the name of the road adjacent to the vineyard. We have kept the name and given it a new vocation.

The vineyard is distinguished in particular by the long and attentive ageing of its cuvées in French oak barrels, amphorae, and even bottles. "Our mission is to bring each grape variety to the best of its expression. In fact, the vineyard has marketed La Grande Cuvée Pelechacz 2013, its renowned extra-brut sparkling wine, and more recently, La Cuvée Exceptionnel Pelechacz 2011, a natural extra-brut sparkling wine. Several cuvées have been rewarded in national and international wine competitions, such as the Nations Cup, World Selections and London Wine Competition."
