When one thinks about the Northern Okanagan wineries the village of Grindrod does not come to mind. Grindrod is home to Baccata Ridge Winery. Grindrod is an unincorporated community in south central British Columbia, Canada. Concentrated on the western shore of the Shuswap River, the place borders the Shuswap and Okanagan regions. The Canadian Pacific Railway(CP) named the new station after Edmund Holden Grindrod, the first CP telegraph inspector in British Columbia (1886–1910).
The vineyards and blueberry patch are situated on steep, south-west facing slopes, and the mineral rich soils ensure high quality fruit production. While the winery has been in production for the past twelve years, it was taken over by the Robertson family in September of 2016.
Baccata Ridge Winery specializes in the production of premium cool climate grape and blueberry wines. They also produce mead.
The winery is named after the Yew tree (Taxus Baccata) that dominates the landscape around the property.
