DesrochersD Honey Farm

113 rang 2 Gravel, Ferme-Neuve, QC, Canada, J0W1C0

Almost due north of Otta and bit north west of Laval, 300km, one can find Ferme-Neuve, in the Hautes-Laurentides. This is the home of Ferme Apicole Desrochers D . Inc Meadery.

An authentic and wild territory, marked by a northern climate, the Upper Laurentians reveal a robust and singular ecosystem, which has something to dream about. It is also the driving force, even the inspiration for an agriculture in tune with nature and what it offers.

It was in 1978 that Marie-Claude Dupuis and Claude Desrochers set up the first apiary. Since that time, producers have been working with respect for nature and bees to design honey wines. They never stop innovating to offer unique, original, and natural products, all certified organic since 2003. It is worth going directly to the farm to taste the full range of their products, such as their honey vermouth or their sweet wines. In order to enhance the work of these little royal warriors and continue the work of her parents, the Miels d'Anicet were created at the turn of the year 2000. Naline and her brother Anicet joined in.

With nearly 1000 hives arranged on a radius of 100 km all around the farm located at the foot of the Devil's Mountain, the bees have a wild territory occupied by forest and free pastures of intensive agriculture that allow them to forage happily while promising a production of wild honeys of high quality.

The Desrochers family has brilliantly risen to the challenge of promoting beehive products and promoting honey culture throughout the province.

"It is all this nature and its ancestral heritage that flow naturally in the divine nectars they propose. To succeed in making an artisanal honey wine whose finesse is close to that of the greatest wines, such as that of the lakes and rivers of the region, the water must be as pure as possible, devoid of the chemicals that are used to make it drinkable and that could modify the quality of the fermentation of the mead. And like the harvest of grapes for wine, that of honey will vary over the years and seasons with variable blooms that will be decisive and perceptible in the taste profile of the different products."

"Since the early days of the beekeeping farm, a constant effort has been made to apply a production method that maintains the balance between instinct and precision. Driven by a constant desire to explore and improve, the team refines its techniques by never losing sight of the real star; honey. Because at the heart of this success, it is obviously the latter that ends up dictating each stage of production. "

They are certified Organic.
