Wooden Bear L Winery is located just south of the Town of Simcoe in Norfolk County. This area, known as 'Ontario's Garden' is the number one producer of many fruits and vegetables in the province of Ontario. It boasts a sandy loam soil perfect for the production of these products.
They started the winery as a value-added business for our apple orchard entity - Calmark Orchards Ltd. Calmark has 50 acres of orchard, growing market and processing apples such as: McIntosh, Empire, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Ida Red and Spy.
From these apples and other varieties sourced in Norfolk, they produce varietal and blended apple wines and cider products.
They also produce grape wines and other fruit wines. Raw Materials used for these products are also sourced locally.

Their specialty Bear Claw Hard Cider - a traditional English style clear dry cider

Downey's Farm Market

The Downey's Estate Winery was established in 2001, and in their very first year, they capture 11 awards at the Canadian International Wine Challenge (CIWC) at the Toronto Wine & Cheese Show. Starting as a produce farm owned by the Downey Family since 1920, expanding into a market and then into producing fruit wines.
Downey's has been extremely successful, in 2003 they were named the Fruit Winery of the Year at the Canadian Awards.
Among their numerous fruit wines they offer Autumn Pear, Apple Crisp, Peach Passion, and Premium Apple.
Autumn Pear one of their most popular wines has won both Gold and Silver Medals at Canadian Wine competitions.
For grape wines they produce Baco Noir,Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Gamay on the redside. Seyval, Pinot Grigio,
and Chardonnay represent our whites.
