In his winemaking, Marc and the proprietor bring their passion and expertise and seeks to tell the story of local wine through the unique terroir of the property.

The former assistant winemaker at Inniskillin Winery and head winemaker for Arterra Wines, Marc started winemaking consultation in 2012 as well as creating and managing his own brand, Fogolar Wines, since 2013. Aside from making wine, Marc also teaches courses in the Oenology and Viticulture program at Brock University.

He is also the winemaker for Dark Horse Estate wines.

Dark Horse is located in Huron County, Ontario’s newest wine region, the 31,000-sq.-ft. facility will house state-of-the-art winemaking technology, exceptional vineyards, patio, VIP reception area and a full-service meeting/banquet space. It’s scheduled to open June 2016. They have 20 acres.

The winery is owned by The Rasenberg family and partners.

Alvento Winery is producing old world-wines on a 16 acre waterfront site in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation of the beautiful Niagara Peninsula. The winery was founded by Bruno and Elyane Moos, who are master winemakers. They spent 15 years growing and producing wines in Tuscany, Italy. They moved to Vineland in 2001 and began planting a vineyard. Their first vintage was in 2006; Bordeaux blends known as ‘Elige’, Nebbiolo known as ‘Aria’, and Viognier known as ‘Vio’. They also introduced some blends in the St Emillon style that are known as ‘Sondra’ and ‘Emilie’.

The Moos have since retired. The 13.4-acre vineyard is now owned by Zhang’s family.

Mark's own label is Fogolar, all about classic Riesling and Cabernet Franc made in small batches, often from distinguished single vineyards in Niagara.
