Constellation Brands Canada was purchased by the Ontario Teachers Pension Fund in Nov 2016. The new name Arterra Wines Canada. Arterra is an Italian word meaning earth.

Ontario Teachers' Pension Fund was established on January 1, 1990. The plan administers the pensions for some 330,000 teachers, principals, and school administrators, and it pays pensions to some 148,000 retirees. One of Canada's largest institutional investors, Ontario Teachers' reported having $249.8 billion in net assets as of June 30, 2023.[7] It has an excellent track record for investment performance, with an average annual return of 9.4 per cent since inception in 1990.[

Constellation Brands is a leading wine, beer and spirits company with a broad portfolio of premium brands. Constellation is the world leader in premium wine, the number one beer importer and the number three beer company in the U.S. Constellation Brand moved into Canada by taking over Vincor Canada. On June 1, 2006 Vincor was officially sold to Constellation brands for $36.50 a share plus a 15% dividend

In turn Constellation sold its Canadian Interest to the Ontario Pension Fund (2016)who renamed it Arterra Wines Canada. This included such brands as Brights, Inniskillian and Jackson Triggs.

Arterra Brands include Black Sage Jackson-Triggs, Inniskillin, NK'Mip, Sawmill Creek, Bodacious, Woodbridge, Ruffino, Kim Crawford, Growers, Black Sage, Naked Grape, Sumac Ridge, See Ya Later Ranch, Brights and more

Vintage Ink winery is also owned by Arterra operating both in the Okanagan and Niagara.

Culmina Estate Winery i

Among recent purchases Laughing Stock Vineyards, Dark Horse Vineyard , Culmina Estate Winery in British Columbia. In Ontario they purchased Sandbanks Winery , Kew Vineyards,Growers Cider and Angels Gate Winery.

They have also re-established Le Clos Jordan

Mississauga, February 28 th , 2023. Arterra Wines Canada Inc. (Arterra) announced today they have added the revered Champagne Palmer & Co to their family of brands

They also have interests in other countries including Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi. Ruffino a very popular Italian wine. New Zealand's Kim Crawford and Australia's Wallaroo Trail.

Administration

John Boynton is the President of Arterra Wines Canada. He oversees the domestic and international sales, marketing and operations of Canada’s leading wine company. 

Don Dychuck is the Executive Vice President of Finance at Arterra Wines Canada, reporting to the President John Boynton. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Don oversees the finance and IT functions, making him responsible for a wide range of activities, from financial planning and analysis to managing IT resources. As the CFO, he ensures these functions work together to protect, support and enable the company to grow.

Will Meijer is the Executive Vice President of Sales at Arterra Wines Canada, reporting to the President, John Boynton. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Dan Dickinson Executive Vice President of Technology & Digital at Arterra Wines Canada, reporting to the President, John Boynton. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

In the last five years, our portfolio of wine brands received over 1,500 accolades and awards in national and international wine competitions.

VinFirst is a leading Canadian canning and Tetra™ packaging company, specializing in the beveragealcohol industry with a passion for seeing wines, ciders and cocktails embraced in these exciting new formats.

Wine Rack is the retail division of Arterra Wines.

In 2018 they opened Great Estates Okanagan in Penticton. Great Estates Okanagan is a collection of Okanagan wine brands and wineries. The portfolio includes JacksonTriggs and Inniskillin Okanagan Estates, Nk’Mip Cellars, See Ya Later Ranch, Sunrock Vineyards, Sumac Ridge, Steller’s Jay, Dark Horse Vineyard and Black Sage Vineyard.
