Geoffrey Moss

Geoffrey became a Master of Wine in 2020, earning the Villa Maria Award for his knowledge of viticulture and the Robert Mondavi Winery Award for the best performance across the Theory exam. His resumé includes working with Don Triggs and family at Culmina and then as part of the founding team at Phantom Creek, launching the brand across Canada. In 2019, he founded Lithica Wine Marketing, a boutique agency that helps wineries develop effective, customer-centric business and marketing strategies. His work blends academic rigor with practical industry experience, making him a sought‑after advisor for wineries aiming to elevate their brand and strengthen customer engagement.
Geoffrey Moss is the Principal of Lithica Wine Marketing. A boutique branding and marketing agency, Lithica serves the global wine industry with a focus on direct-to-consumer sales and marketing. Geoffrey’s Master of Wine Research Paper was “A Case Study: Factors Affecting Wine Club Termination for Nine California Wineries.” After graduating with a degree in Political Science from McGill University, Geoffrey took the only logical next step: he enrolled in a Winemaking and Viticulture program.
He obtained a Viticulture Technical Diploma from Niagara College and completed Master of Business Administration coursework at Brock University before dedicating himself to the Master of Wine program. Additionally, Moss worked his way through the WSET program, completing the WSET Level 4 Diploma in 2015.

The Master of Wine (MW) is one of the most elite and demanding wine qualifications in the world, held by only about 418 people globally. It represents the highest level of expertise in viticulture, winemaking, tasting, and the business of wine. The title is quite rare only about 10% pass the exam. The Institue of Master of Wine was founded in the United Kingdom in 1955.
The Exam
The MW exam includes:
• Three days of blind tastings (12 wines per day).
• Theory papers covering viticulture, winemaking, business, and contemporary issues.
• A research paper based on original work.
• A strict Code of Conduct to uphold integrity and professionalism.
Geoffrey lates project is as co-owner and developer of Søren Wine. A virtual winery based in Oliver.
