Arthur and Ingrid de Jong immigrated from Netherlands in 1983 along with their three daughters. They decided to give Canada a try if they were not successful they would return to Europe. Due to hard work and determination they succeeded.
In 2017 they founded Glass House Winery. Another success story. very impressive from its style to decor, to its hospitality to its wines. After a few years of successfully running their winery it was time to relax a bit. They turned over the winery to a management company. This turned out to be a very bad idea.
In November of 2024 they retained the winery bringing in their daughter Magrit as managing partner. It was necessary for them to close the winery and do a complete re-do. In Nov they did a soft re-opening coming back stronger than ever.
The de Jong : As one chapter closes, we step forward to continue building the legacy that defines Glass House—a story of family, faith, and resilience. Built on hard work, perseverance, and a passion for cultivating—whether it’s tending to the land, growing a business, or nurturing relationships—this legacy has been passed down through generations and continues to shape our vision for the future.
This November, we’ll welcome you back to a beautifully revitalized Glass House, where integrity, quality, elegance, and family remain at the heart of everything we do.
Every detail has been thoughtfully reimagined to create an unforgettable experience—one inspired by the culture of wine and family, where we strive to make every day
worth celebrating. Here’s to you, and to the new memories we’ll create together!
Barbara and I had the pleasure of attending their opening. We were warmly greeted, at the door by Ingrid and her granddaughter. It was such a wonderful welcoming feeling.
We were were very happy to have co-owner Arthur de Jong join us at our table. He provided us with glass a of their Sparking Wine. A most delicious wine 2023 Stellatus Brut Cuvee
The wonderful sparkling wine was followed by a glass of 2022 Bacchus for me and a 2022 Merlot for Barbara. Two very fine wines. We also tried their 2022 Chardonnay excellent!
We were provided with a plate of Duck Rillette. The presentation was perfect. It was sooo good!
