Robert's Report
The Trip 2015
Moon Curser Vineyards
The winery was founded by Chris Tolley and his wife Beata Tolley in 2004 under the name Twisted Tree. In 2011 they changed identity to Moon Curser Vineyards - a name that captures many colourful stories of the Osoyoos area, as well as the renegade spirit of their winemaking. Moon Curser, a reference to gold rush-era smugglers cursing the full moon when it stopped
them sneaking over the border at night to avoid duties on their gold.
The winery has an excellent location just on the towns outskirts high above the lake. What a view!
The very knowledgeable and charming Steph guided us through our tasting experience with a little help from Mr Tolley SR. We had a wonderful time. The question is are you Afraid of the Dark? Smile its actually the name of their wine. A nice blend of Roussanne (44%), Viognier (37%) and Marsanne (19%) . Next we tasted the Arneis 2014*. The reds came next starting with a Cabernet Merlot . At this point my pen must have run out of ink as I have no more notes.
Back to to hotel and a swim.
* Arneis is a white Italian wine grape variety originating from Piedmont, Italy.
