Just a few miles to the North is the town of Oliver which claims to be the Wine Capital of Canada. Twenty two wineries
are located here. Including our next stop Silver Sage

The winery was established by Anna and Victor Manola. Set on the bank of Oxbow Creek, which meanders gently through the Manola's vineyard, Silver Sage Winery offers a picturesque view of the surrounding mountains and countryside.

The Manola's always dreamed of owning a vineyard in the Okanagan Valley, and in 1996 the dream became a reality. The Manola's purchased 25 acres of land, cleared it, planted and with a lot of hard work, love and passion it became a well established vineyard of which they were and are very proud. Both Anna and Victor had a wine making and viticulture background that stretches back to their youth

A tragic accident took Victor away from Anna on November 10, 2002. Anna and the family has carried on to fulfill the dream, the tradition and the passion.

 

We were warmly greeted as we entered the tasting room of this beautifully designed winery.

Wines are produced from four varieties of premium grapes: Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir and other fruits: blueberries, raspberries, cherries and peach/apricots. All the fruit dessert wines are made out of high quality fruits available in the Okanagan Valley and Fraser Valley, BC.

We found the complete line of wines to be OUTSTANDING. Full of intense flavour's.
Author John Schreiner recommends their fruit wines. I was highly impressed by their 2003 Sage Grand Reserve, Gewürztraminer fermented with wild sage plants produces a semi-dry, crisp-spiced well balanced wine with a unique sage aroma.

Winemaker Anna Manola has created a
unique wine called the Flame Aperitif

An icewine with a red pepper in each bottle. The after taste was a little hot for me
