Traynor WInery

Mike Traynor is an ambitions young man following the principles of hardwork he work his way through the wine business from labourer to winery owner bearing his name.

Traynor Family Vineyard is in the heart of The County. The quaint 5.5 Acre vineyard sits at the corner of Danforth Road and Loyalist Parkway in Hillier.

Mike purchase purchased the property in 2008. It was a frozen cornfield, and he could see his vision from that very moment. A beautiful bright space with friendly faces, delicious lunches and of course award winning wines.

Mike is a true family man. Mike grew up with two supportive parents and four older siblings who showed him to follow his dreams. He has a wonderful wife, a son who he adores, a beautiful little girl and a baby on the way. To show his love and gratefulness for their support, he named the winery after his family. He is forever thankful for his family and friends.

With a strong work ethic, education, and craftsmanship he worked his way up to being Canada’s youngest winemaker at the age of 22. Through the years, he has stayed in the industry while also applying his management skills, acting as president, to some of Canada’s fastest growing organic poultry companies.

He gave up the business world to become a full time winemaker and owner.

Mike's wife Rebecca grew up in Toronto. She founded her matchmaking company in Peterboroughe  Match Me Canada . She help mike plant 6,500 vines by hand in 2008, because they couldn’t afford a tractor.

“We just want to rock our businesses!” says Rebecca. “We’re young, we’re growing our family, we’re growing our businesses. I say we’re both in the love business – wine and matchmaking. And it’s all going very well.”

Reviews

"This is a small winery, with exceptional wines, clearly made with love and passion. We sat outside in the gorgeous sunshine, listening to live music. We tasted some of their natural wines, and could not leave without buying the vermouth. LORDY! SO GREAT!"

"Loved the family and story at this winery. Small and personal. Wine was unique but tasty. Staff were very friendly. If this place had a larger building I could see them taking off."

"Enjoyed our visit so much we had to visit twice! Best selection of natural wines in the county - a must try if you're a traditional wine drinker and a definite try if you're more into beer especially wild ferments.

Received service from the owner himself and another friendly female server. Both extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine. Great casual atmosphere.

They have a variety of traditional wines styles, in addition, to the natural wines we were searching for."
