Inniskillin Winery
Canada's Grand Estates

Vineyards
Presently Inniskillin has 240 acres of premium quality Vinifera vineyards at four sites in Niagara-on-the-Lake, including Inniskillin's two Estate Vineyards, the Braeburn Vineyard and the Montague Vineyard.
Brae Burn Estate: Brae Burn Estate, on which the winery is situated, is located on the Niagara Parkway just five minutes south of the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake and just twenty minutes north of Niagara Falls.
The vineyard's soils consist of clay-loam with glacial and alluvial deposits,
ideally suited for the growing of Vitis vinifera varieties, such as Pinot Noir.
In addition, the winery is surrounded by vineyards dedicated to the production
of icewine. A research vineyard for irrigation and wetlands research is also
located on the property.
Montague Estate: Located inland in Niagara-on-the-Lake, mid-way between the south shore of Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment, this property was first planted in 1980. Today, it is a 110-acre vineyard solely owned and operated by Inniskillin. The Montague Estate vineyard is characterized by heavy clay soils, which retain a steady balance of moisture and nutrients, and a warm inland influence that offers a tempered effect throughout the growing season. Many Estate wines are similar in style to those of the Russian River Valley, California and Burgundy, France
Culp Vineyard: The Culp Vineyard,
nestled mid-way between the Niagara Escarpment and the shores of Lake
Ontario near Vineland, remains a premier source of top-quality grapes.
The combination of insightful viticultural practices, a fine growing season,
and auspicious geographical condition and location have given rise to
this extraordinary single vineyard bottling.
Klose Vineyard: Gerald Klose, owner and operator of his family's vineyard, has been Innskillin's own Vineyard Manager for twenty-two years. The Klose Vineyard consists of 15 acres of primarily Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon and is situated on the Niagara Parkway close to Lake Ontario and the Niagara River in Niagara-on-the-Lake. A unique attribute of this Estate is its soil composition, which plays a key role in heat retention by extending warmth and adding ripeness to the fruit throughout the course of the growing season. Klose Estate wines have received international acclaim through numerous prestigious awards.
Schuele Vineyard: Family-owned and operated by Reinhold and Son Martin Schuele since they arrived in Canada in the late 1970's, the Schuele Estate is an outstanding vineyard located in Vineland on the south shore of Lake Ontario. One of the best maintained and manicured properties in the area, the Schuele Estate consists of 170 acres and features light loam soils. Heavily influenced by the lake, with its warming effect in the fall and cooling impact in spring, the Estate produces fruit of a slightly delicate nature. The result is lighter-bodied wines similar to those of Burgundy, France.
Seeger Vineyard: Initially owned and planted by Inniskillin
in 1974, the Seeger Estate is one of the oldest producing vineyards in the region.
Sold to the Seeger Family by Inniskillin in 1977, the Estate now consists of
120 acres of premium vines that are exclusive to Inniskillin. Located by the
Niagara Parkway in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Estate is influenced by both the
Niagara River and Lake Ontario. The vineyard features predominantly heavy clay
soils and sand, which allow for better natural drainage. Albrecht Seeger maintains
the original quest for quality wines that reflect distinguished maturity and
full-bodied richness.
Inniskillin established an estate winery in the Okanagan in 1994 which commemorated 20 years of Inniskillin's first crush. The labels were designed by a local artist. Great care was taken to ensure that the labels reflected the Native heritage. The label inspired the naming of our estate vineyard: Dark Horse Vineyard .
