Blomidon Estate Winery is nestled on the edge of the Minas Basin, near Canning, in the picturesque Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. The winemaking philosophy at Blomidon Estate Winery is simple: Respect our unique maritime terroir to make pure, exceptional wines from our estate-grown, 100% Nova Scotian grapes. Blomidon Estate Winery Dec 2013 launched the province's first traditional method sparkling red wine, made from an equal blend of Marechal Foch and Lucie Kuhlman grapes
Simon joined Blomidon as their Winemaker in 2009. Simon brings a wealth of international experience to the winery, having earned a Master of Viticulture and Oenology degree from SupAgro Montpellier in France. He honed his craft working at Shaky Bridge Winery in New Zealand and at Domaine Zind-Humbrecht and Chateau de Lancyre in France. A native Nova Scotian, Simon jumped at the opportunity to return to his home province to make wine. “Nova Scotia is a really interesting wine region because our climate allows us to achieve such unique character in our wines,” says Simon, “The terroir really shines through.”
