Bizou + Yukon

Savvy Gris 2019

The Bizou + Yukon is a new label for the well know and respected Okanagan Crush pad. Okanagan Crush Pad was established in 2011, in Summerland British Columbia, by Christine Coletta and Steve Lornie . It has been established to be a one-stop shop for the wine industry in British Columbia. Their goal is to provide assistance every step of the way from the field to the marketplace.

Of course they do produce their own wines under the Haywire, Free Form and Narrative label.

On a recent visit to the Crush Pad Barbara and I were treated to very special tasting conducted by Christine. The Crush Pad proved to have an amazing cellar of fine wines. One that did stand out was the Bizou + Yukon Savvy Gris 2019. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, “Savvy” is made in concrete tanks with wild yeast, creating a zippy blend, thanks to the Sauvignon, with some good structure coming from the Gris.

The Bizou + Yukon Savvy Gris 2019 is a very smooth wine with intense flavours. The wine is quite refreshing with lovely citrus flavours. In my notes I wrote "buy" and we did.

“I love to take Bizou + Yukon for walkies from the winter barn into a large fenced field,” says Christine. “I often wonder what they do when we are not around? Who are they really, underneath all that fur? From these thoughts came the idea for the story and labels behind Bizou + Yukon label.”

Okanagan Crush Pad is located in Summerland.
