Sparkling Wines of Canada

Sparkling wine is defined as table wine that contains high amounts of dissolved CO 2 that bubbles effusively when poured into a glass. A wine with significant levels of carbon dioxide in it making it fizzy. The carbon dioxide may result from natural fermentation, either in a bottle, ... Sparkling wines are categorized as Extra Brut, Brut (pronounced "broot"), Extra dry, Sec and Demi-sec depending on their sugar levels.

Perhaps you know it better by the name Champagne. Champagne is a sparkling wine produced from grapes grown in the Champagne region of France following rules that demand secondary fermentation of the wine in the bottle to create carbonation .Some use the term champagne as a generic term for sparkling wine, but many countries reserve the term exclusively for sparkling wines that come from Champagne and are produced under the rules of the appellation. CAnada has an agreement with France to honor Champagne as been only from the Champagne region of France.
