Cawston British Columbia This peaceful community in the south Similkameen Valley was named for R.L. Cawston, a pioneer rancher and magistrate who settled in the area in the 1800's. For years now the Similkameen Valley has been now for its vineyards. One of the early pioneers in Cawston was
Crowsnest which in recent years has blossomed under the Located right
on the Similkameen River is
Forbidden Fruit Winery (also B&B) producing top notch wines from
from 100% Certified Organic exotic tree fruits. The list of wineries include Seven Stones Winery (the name embraces the history of the valley) Cawston's newest winery, Orofino Canada's only strawbale winery. Orofino means Fine Gold in Spanish All these wineries produce limited quanities of wine thus ensuring maxium quality. Cawston is located on Highway 3 a few miles east of Keremeos. It is approximately 25 kilometers east of Hedley, 35 kilometers west of Osoyoos and 370 kilometers east of Vancouver. I can strongly recommend a visit to this wonder town and the Similkameen Valley. Great wines and beautiful scenery. For more on the wineries of the Similkameen Valley click here
