Chateau Wolff Estate

Harry Von Wolff opened his winery 1987 near Nanaimo when he was in his seventies. When he pasted away in 2005 the winery closed. In 20144 the winery sold and  has been revived brilliantly by Ontarians Matt and Natalie Riga. They chose to keep the name and honour Harry.

The Rigas opened The Port Bistro-Pub in Matt’s hometown of Trenton in the summer of 2011.  The restaurant saw Matt as chef, Natalie running front of house and quickly became a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Having always enjoyed a nice glass of wine the two made day trips to the Prince Edward County region regularly on their days off.  The more they observed in the wineries and learned in the vineyards the more they began to dream of one day owning their own winery. Longing to return to Vancouver Island and wanting to start a family, they sold their restaurant and purchased Chateau Wolff Estate in January 2014.

The boutique style winery produces Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, a White Blend and a fortified red called Rouge.  Their approach to wine is focused on growing high quality grapes that speak for themselves.  Minimalist intervention and traditional old world methods see it through to bottle.

The vineyards are over 20 years old. They produce a Fortified wine called Rouge from Dornfelder grapes. One of the few Island wineries producing a chardonnay.
