Barbara and I are lucky enough to live within thirty minutes of five of BC's Fraser Valley Wineries. We of course like to visit them all. This time we were off to Backyard vineyards with our close group of friends June, Peter, Jane and Ken. All devoted wine lovers.
It was a hot summer day and a picnic near the vines with some great wines was the a perfect way to spend the day. Backyard has an excellent picnic area. They actually have two nice areas. One out on the grass with umbrella and one under cover. We chose the sad close to the winery door. Best to be close to the wine.
A bell for the Bells
We stared the afternoon off with a really nice bottle of Social Cabernet Franc 2018 which boasts bold notes of dark berry fruit, peppercorn and vanilla. It was so good we ordered a second bottle. The winery suppled the lunch.
Winemaker Liam Berti came by and chatted with us for quite some time He is a very nice chap. He wold join as a gain when we moved inside to do a tasting.
The winery was quite busy however they were will organized with their social distancing plan.
Norma with her charming personality also came by to say hello. Norma has hosted us on numerous visits
Ted was our host for todays tastings. We kept him hopping with individual selections. He started us with a sparkling wine Blanc de Noir Brut. This wine is made from Fraser valley estate grown pinot noir. It was quite good with notes of apple through out and hints of light spice.
