Krause Berry Farms and Estate Winery

6179 248th Street, Langley BC

One of the most popular attractions in the lower mainland of British Columbia is Krause Berry Farm and Estate Winery. Visitors come to pick the berries, purchase vegetables, visit the market to select fruit pies and other delectable items from the bakery; their potato bread is a must try not to mention the strawberry pies. There is also a fresh fudge counter. Started over 40 years ago the property has evolved into a one stop destination. Visitors also come to taste some of BC's best fruit wines.

Barbara and I were invited to visit by wineries new winemaker Tobias Bowman. Tobias spent the last few years as the winemaker at the Fort Wine Company.

Tobias is the son of tasting room manager Ted Bowman. Ted sports a Derby Hat as he assumes the role of an Old West bartender serving up great wines and good times in the winery. It is worth a trip just to see him strut his stuff!

Krause winery waffles

Our tasting experience began will a very nice sparkling Apple Wine followed by the most delicious waffles.

The Berry Farm has many delightful treats to enjoy. The winery features Corn Pizza, roasted corn chowder, nachos, Krauseadillas and pie.

The winery makes a number of sparkling wines including their Sparkling Blueberry - Double Gold & Gold at the Northwest Wine Summit and Sparkling Raspberry - Double Gold and Gold at the All Canadian Wine Competition.

Our next selection was the Oaked Apple Wine. It start with a very nice aroma and of courses flavours of crisp apple.

Next we tried the Pear wine. Barbara really enjoyed this wine. My favourite was the Tayberry with its unique a combination of sweet-tart raspberry  and blue berry. More please!

If you are a fan of Rhubarb  you will enjoy their Rhubarb with Strawberry Wine. Barbara liked it.

Another favourite of mine is the Eureka (Blueberry Reserve) wine. The favours of blueberries really shone through. An other impressive wine was the Cassis (Black Currant) Dessert Wine 2017 Canada Double Gold Winner Best Fruit Wine of the Year. Oh my it is good!

There were many other fine wines in the wineries cellar. We will be back in the spring to taste more wines, eat some treats and take home from berries. During the summer there are numerous events to enjoy such as free musical entertainment.

We took home a cake!!

Thank you Ted, Tobias and the Krause team for a most enjoyable visit.
