The Best of 2017
Robert's Selection reflects wines we have enjoyed in our home, at a friends or dining out. This means our selections are based on a glass or more of each wine in a relaxed and enjoyable surrounding. 2017 produce some really remarkable wines. Perhaps some are scored two high, but when you give a good wine a 92 and find one slightly better it gets a 94 and so on. All the wines listed here are worth seeking out and buying! Chaberton Estate Winery

Langley, BC V2Z 1R3We found our selves frequent visitors at this Fraser Valley winery in 2017. They have an excellent cellar of wines.
It was the Reserve Bacchus 2016 that we purchased over and over again. It starts with a nice aroma, tantalizes the taste buds with lime and pear. Followed by a smooth lasting finish. 97
The Reserve Bacchus 2015 is also a notable wine score a 95

Creston BCThis Kootenay BC Vineyards in Creston has produced some amazing wines. Its 2015 Récolte Blanche a fresh blend of Pinot Gris,Schoenburger, Kerner and Gewürztraminer one of the best wines I have had the pleasure to enjoy. 96
The wine is hard to find but I did score twice in 2017. We also listed this wine last year but when your GOOD your GOOD! 96
Backyard Vineyards

Langley, BCThe Fraser Valley once again makes our list in back to back years with their 2015 Gewürztraminer. We enjoyed a number of bottles over the summer. 96

Aldergrove, BC V4W 2G8The jewel in the Aldergrove's country side. It is alway a please to visit Carlos, Kim and Kelli at the winery with its new patio. Among their impressive cellar is Alliance 2009.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this is Blackwood Lane’s Signature wine. 95

ON L0R 1B0We were very fortunate to receive a bottle of Estate Chardonnay 2014 from this Beamsville Bench, Ontario winery.
The wine plays nicely on your taste buds and warms your heart 95
Township 7
Township 7 has two location one in Langley Township and one in Naramata
Their 2016 Viognier is a true winner. With flavours of peach and honeysuckle scoring a 95
We also enjoyed the Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 is full of aromas of black currant and dark cherry tempered with tobacco and graphite. 95

Rich prune and blackberry aromas combine with a sweet caramel and mocha finish. Enjoy ‘Tribute’ with family and friends in the manner it was made... WITH LOVE. 94

Oliver, BCAn outstanding red wine is the Nota Bene 2015. The blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc and the wine was aged 16 months in barrel . Cherry and chocolate dominate. Those who love bold red may score this wine higher for me its an 94 .

Penticton, BC V2A 8T5Quality is what one expects from Naramata LA Frenz winery. Their Semillon Knorr Vineyard 2016 exceeds expectations 94
Moraine Estate
1865 Naramata Road, Penticton,
British Columbia, V2A 8T9This Naramata Bench winery makes a very nice Pinot Noir 2014. It was aged 10 month in premium French oak. Flavours of dark chocolate, black cherries, and lingonberry 94
Backwood Lane Estate Winery

Aldergrove, BC V4W 2G8Time to give Carlos Lee some credit for the Whites he released this year. I like his 2014 Chardonnay using grapes from the Naramata Bench Carlos has perfect his Chardonnay. An easy drinking wine perfect balance, good flavours lovely finish. 94

Pillitteri Estate

Niagara-on-the-LakeWho doesn't love Canada's icewine. Pillitteri has always been among the best. Their Reserve Vidal Icewine is amazing! 94

Langley BC, V2Z 1K3Newly opened in 2017 . The meadery is owned by Teresa Townsley and Bill Townsley.
The Fortuna had all the flavours one would want in a mead This honey wine made with sweet and sour cherries is a classic
Even more impressive was the Silvanas with a touch of pure Canadian Maple Syrup.
Note: I live in British Columbia obtaining wines from other provinces is not easy It should be, Free Our Grapes!
